Small shops, big-shop intelligence.
Chains know what sells, when to reorder and what a normal Tuesday looks like, because they see hundreds of stores at once. An independent shop sees only itself. buyOS exists to close that gap: every shop on buyOS can learn from the patterns of thousands of shops like it, without any shop giving away its own business.
That only works if you can trust us. So here is the deal, in plain words. Last updated 5 November 2026.
1. Your data is yours
- Your items, prices, sales, stock and customers belong to your shop. We hold them to run your register.
- You can export everything or ask us to delete it at any time.
- We never sell your data and never use it for advertising.
2. What “learning together” means
- To build benchmarks, such as “cafés in your area sell 18% more iced drinks after 2 pm”, we combine numbers from many shops into totals and averages.
- A combined figure is only ever shown when it includes at least 10 shops, so no single shop can be worked out from it.
- Combined figures never include shop names, exact prices, supplier terms or customer details.
- Your own register’s smart features, like the “Right now” tab, learn only from your own sales.
3. Competitors never see you
- No other shop, supplier or partner can see your sales, prices, stock or customers. Every request to our database is checked against your shop membership.
- We do not build reports about one named shop for anyone else.
4. Your customers are protected too
- Customers you add to buyOS Pass are your customers. We process their details only to run your Pass program.
- We never use a customer’s details across shops unless that customer has agreed to it themselves.
5. You decide
- Taking part in combined benchmarks is on by default and you can switch it off any time in Settings → Register → Help shops like yours. Your register works the same either way.
- If we ever want to use data in a new way, we will tell you first and ask where the law requires it.
